I have lived and painted in North Cornwall since 1975.  My pictures have been shown in galleries, both in the South West and further afield.  More recently I have concentrated on working for two shows which are held each Summer at Rock and which I share with the potter Caroline Bousfield Gregory.  These shows are called "Pictures and Pots".  We enjoy organising and arranging these exhibitions ourselves and also the opportunity it gives us to meet and talk to people.

My paintings are mainly of the landscape around the Camel Estuary in North Cornwall, including Rock, Daymer Bay, Trebetherick, Porthilly Cove, Padstow and the surrounding farmland and wooded valleys.  I am interested in the way the light and atmosphere affect and enchant the land and water.  I prefer early morning, evening, moonlight and special weather conditions as times to work.  Since we moved to Cornwall, my husband and I have been involved with the conservation work of the Cornwall Wild Life Trust and we live in one of the Reserves, an oak woodland near Wadebridge called Hawke's Wood.  There are bluebells in the springtime and for three to four weeks I work intensely before the flowers disappear for another year.

I use watercolour, oil and oil pastel, wax pastel and soft pastel.  I work both on the spot and in the studio.  My pictures are most often the result of direct observation but sometimes I let a picture develop in a more imaginative way.  This usually means the work is built up in layers, one medium, on top of another.
